OBITUARY
James W. Whelan
   "Jim/Whales"

James Whelan, "Jim or Whales" of Hartland age 64 passed away unexpectedly at home Thursday, May 10, 2018. Jim was born September 24, 1953 in Hartford, WI to Donald and Mary Whelan. Jim was 3rd born in a family of nine children.

Jim was extremely generous, had a hilarious personality, and was as bubbly as the bubbles in the Champagne of Beer. Jim could be found working at the Legend of Bristlecone Pines golf course every day of the week and at a local fish fry on Friday nights. No one was more important to Jim than his daughter Jennie, but he also enjoyed playing the lottery, baseball, golf, bowling, listening to the Brewers, watching the Packers and drinking mountain dew, beer and brandy until the day he died.

Jim is survived by his daughter Jennie (Jason) Van Remmen, mother Mary Whelan, seven brothers and sisters; Patrick (Debbie) Whelan, Jeanne Whelan, Terry (Julie) Whelan, Maureen Whelan, Colleen (Mike) Matusek, Justine (Paul) Pennoyer, and Tim Whelan. Many nieces and nephews, a handful of great nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his father Donald Whelan, sister Kathleen Whelan, grandparents William and Mary Agnes Whelan, Homer Burdick, Doris and Clem Hanrahan.

An Irish Wake will be held on July 28, 2018 at the Monches Ballpark to celebrate Jim’s life.
