Gloria Barbara Wendt, age 91, a long-time resident of
Hartland, WI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 25th
at Hartland Terrace.
She was born in Methuen, Massachusetts on November 30th, 1925, and Gloria was a great support to her mother and very close to her brothers. Following high school, Gloria’s adventurous spirit took her to Washington DC where she met the love of her life, Jerome Wendt at a military dance. After helping Jerry recuperate from injuries sustained during war, she went on to hold several office accounting jobs in the Milwaukee area. Gloria was fond of recalling when she was a young newlywed and took flying lessons at Timmerman Field learning to pilot her own plane.
Gloria resided in Wisconsin during most of her adult life, yet always enjoyed acknowledging her Massachusetts roots, recognizable by her endearing East Coast accent, affection for lighthouses, inclination for tea and spunky Italian-Irish temperament. Gloria and Jerry filled their years together socializing with family and friends, traveling, and caring for their beloved miniature poodles. Gloria’s now deceased wonderful mother, Genevieve Sacco was also a big part of Gloria’s life.
Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jerome Wendt, mother Genevieve Sacco, and brothers, Dicky and Philip Sacco. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Camille Wendt and nephews James (Karol) Wendt and Thomas (Sandy) Wendt, grandnephew Jason and niece Laura. Christine Golden (Hartland, WI), Margi and Joe Scoufis (Loveland, CO), and Betty Lewis (No. Carolina) along with loved ones Ted, Alex, and Christine Scoufis and Lauren (Ryan) and Sarah Golden also brought great joy to her.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, July 21, 2017 at the Evert-Luko Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of Services.
