OBITUARY
Kent P. Thalacker
 




Kent Patrick Thalacker, of Hartland, WI passed away peacefully following a fourteen-year battle with cancer on June 7, 2015 at AngelsGrace Inpatient Hospice, Oconomowoc, WI. Kent was born December 10, 1940 to Garold A Thalacker and Gladys B Thalacker; he was the 8th of 10 children.  

Kent attended grade school in Halstad, MN and graduated from high school in Chetek, WI. He attended Barron County Teachers’ College, and worked as a teacher in Arizona for 2 years with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, then spent 1 year teaching for Racine Unified Schools. Kent served honorably in the US Army, stationed in Germany for most of his service. Kent went on to become a machinist, retiring from Precision Gears in 2002. 

Kent married Janice L. Laske on June 22, 1968. They have four children – Michelle, Chris, Steven and Donald. Kent and Janice were active members in their church, and dreamed of retiring together in Bemidji. Kent also enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and volunteering with the Boy Scouts in Troop 24.

Kent is preceded in death by his wife Janice, sons Steven and Donald, parents Garold and Gladys, siblings Gerald, Gene, Gail & Sharon. He is survived by daughter Michelle (Laurie) Thalacker, Chris (Christa) Thalacker, grand-daughter Brooklynn, and countless nieces, nephews, and friends whom he considered family. 

A service in memory of Kent will be held on Saturday, June 13, at the Church of the Resurrection, Hwy KE (North Shore Drive) between Hwy 83 and Hwy 16. Friends may call at the church from 12PM until the Memorial Service at 2PM, followed by a reception celebrating Kent's life. Pastors Jim Stein and Liz Rossing will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family appreciated.
