Donna Kay Stapleton
(nee Cowen)
 

Donna Stapleton, of North Lake, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at the age of 73.

She was born December 14, 1942 in Milwaukee, WI to the late Burt and Vernice Cowen. She was educated in the Milwaukee / Arrowhead Schools and married Terry Stapleton November 8, 1960, with whom she had 3 daughters.

Donna was an integral part of the North Lake Community, assisting in many different roles and capacities for community events, projects and celebrations. Sometimes at the forefront, sometimes in the back, sometimes in the shadows always, and continuously helping make North Lake an exceptional place to live. She started contributing to the community in 1960 and continued these endeavors for the next 56 years, including…

                    1960 Centennial Queens Court 
                     helping to coordinate/facilitate the development of the North Lake Tennis Courts
                     intimately involved with Land O' Lakes Baseball League 
                     President of North Lake Firemen’s Auxiliary 
                     member of North Lake Rec Club
                     founding member of "North Lake Nomads"
                     fundamental in developing what is known as "Harvest Fest"
                     supportive of the Lowell VFW by way of gift baskets, etc.
                    most recently the continued development of "The Town of Merton War Memorial"

Donna enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, reading, and Card Club. Her work ethic, attention to detail, determination and fortitude served her well, and is an inspiration to others.  

She will be dearly missed.

Donna is survived by her loving husband Terry, daughters Rose Stapleton Dacey, Rhonda (fiancé Brent) Stapleton and Rebecca (James) Neff, grandchildren Elijah ((Liljana) Dacy, Taylor, Jesse, Reiss, the late Mitchell, Makayla, and Ariel (Andrew) Dean and great-grandchildren: Kaden, Elijana, Aiden, and Abigail. She is further survived by her sister Gerie (Gary) Baehler and her brothers Buck (the late Dottie) Cowen and Todd Cowen.



A Catholic Prayer Service will be held at 6:00 PM  on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Funeral Home. Visitation at the Funeral Home from 4 - 6:00 PM.
