David Lee Stae passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the age of 83.
Born in 1933 in Rice Lake Wisconsin to Helen and Melvin (Molly) Stae. David grew up in Superior, Wisconsin before moving to Milwaukee. He married Gwendolyn Gustafson in 1956. They moved the family to Hartland in 1966. David worked as a Claims Manager for Transamerica Insurance Company.
He loved spending more than 45 years at his cabin on a small lake in northern Wisconsin. He loved fishing, going for walks and enjoying the wildlife. He enjoyed his retirement years heading to Siesta Key, FL for the winter months for 22 years, where he fished the intercoastal, biked and walked the beach. David loved the Packers and was a season ticket holder for 50 years, first watching the games at Milwaukee County Stadium. He had a wonderful sense of humor. All of these passions he passed on to his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gwen, children Michael (Sally), Carrie Euch (Mike), granddaughters, Erica and Andrea Euch. Brother Dick Stae (Marie), nephews Matt(Dorothy) and Mark (Debbie) and their children Logan and Lauren. David is further survived by many special cousins, friends from “the block”, Poker Club, the Packer gang, Siesta Key, “Jungle” friends and many, many others.
Special thanks to Lori, Kathy, Nicole and Brandon from Aurora Metro Hospice. Thanks for your kindness, knowledge and caring for our Dad with such love.
