William Stanley Pearce "Stan" of Hartland Wisconsin, age 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 17, 2016.
He was born in Zebulon, North Carolina to Clarence and Pearl Pearce and most of his life in North Carolina and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Stan began his career with Nationwide Insurance, and moved to Milwaukee in 1966 to become president of Association Life Insurance Company, where he remained until his retirement in 1988. He subscribed to a "MBWA" style of management, an acronym for "management by wandering or walking around". He knew his 200 employees by name, and made an effort to get to know every one of them. He served in the United States Army in the Philippines during WW2. Golf was his passion, and he served as the president of the Greater Milwaukee Open in the early 1970's.
Stan was a southern gentleman, who loved his family, sports, good scotch
and Carolina basketball.
Loving father of his daughter Sandra, devoted grandfather to Zachary, Samuel, William, and dear uncle to his nephew Fred (Marilyn). Preceded in death by his beloved wife Morris (Mo), his sister Elizabeth (Harold), brothers David and Frederick Wayne and his niece Mitzi.
Although he excelled in business, his greatest success was as a husband,
father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, January 21 2016 from 5:00-7:00 pm with military honors at 6:30 pm at the Evert-Luko Funeral Home.
