OBITUARY
Lorraine M. Orlikowski

Lorraine was born Lorraine Margaret Narloch on Aug. 9, 1926, to John and Sophie Narloch in Milwaukee. She was the second of five children.

In Milwaukee, Lorraine met and at age 21 became the happy bride of Theodore Poplawski. They soon had three children together – Christine, Kathy, and young Ted – and built a home in Racine. Sadly, Theodore died unexpectedly in 1969 at age 49, leaving Lorraine a young widow at 42. She returned to Milwaukee and worked in the student union at Marquette University, until she met and married Ed Orlikowski in 1980. After his death in 2007, she moved to Franklin where she lived the last nine years.

Over the years, Lorraine enjoyed dancing, fishing (she caught 13 legal muskies!), a weekly poker game at her Clare Meadows apartment complex, every Brewers game, and an occasional trip to a casino. Quite the adventurer, she traveled to many states, from Hawaii to Washington D.C. And at age 80, she traveled with her daughter and granddaughter to London, Venice, Florence and Rome, her first and only visit to Europe. Her favorite memories were hanging out her laundry and waving to the other little old ladies over the canals of Venice and, in Rome, seeing the pope himself at St. Peter’s Basilica.

Above all else, she was a devoted wife, supportive mother and grandmother, and recently the proud great-grandmother to the three sons of Ted and Faith Whelan -- Rowan, Nils and Arden -- whom she visited often in Minneapolis, and to Madison Branstetter. We will all miss her warm and outgoing personality.

Lorraine is survived by her brother, Gene Narlock, her sister, June Verdin, daughters Christine (Bob) Whelan and Kathy Werlein, son Ted (Margaret) Poplawski, eight grandchildren – Rebecca Whelan, Josh (Catrina) Whelan, Jen (Rafa) Whelan, Ted (Faith) Whelan, Sackie Krikorian, Natasha Krikorian, Kristen (Geoff) Tlachac, and Katie (Bryan) Branstetter, her four great-grandchildren, and other family and friends.

A Gathering for friends and family will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26th , with a Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception, all at St. Charles Catholic Church, 313 Circle Dr., Hartland.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hartland Food Pantry are appreciated.
