Frank E. Moertl, longtime North Lake resident, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2015 at the age of 89.
Frank was an avid postal history researcher. He published numerous booklets for the library of congress regarding the postal history in the state of Wisconsin and was the first recipient of the Frank E. Moertl Achievement Award which is awarded to individuals who show exemplary efforts in obtaining postal history. In addition Frank received numerous awards for his wide variety of collections with regards to postal memorabilia. He was also an avid stamp collector attending numerous regional stamp shows and being active on many boards including the Waukesha Stamp Society and the Philatelic Society.
Hobbies included woodworking, even making many of the family furniture pieces, fossil and Indian arrowhead collecting, fishing and reading. He was an active member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish where he served as an usher for many years and sexton of the church cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Ann and his son Wayne Gerard. He is survived by his children Elaine (Stephen O’Dell) Moertl, Jeanne (Steven) Seitz, Daniel Moertl, and Joyce (Allan) Mueller, grandchildren Christine, Dominic, Michael, Mary, John, Mark, Paul, Adam and Sarah and 9.8 great grandchildren. He will be further missed by his brother Joseph (Janet) Moertl, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his brother Phillip Moertl.
A Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church, Hwy 83, North Lake. Visitation will be at church from 10:00 am until the time of the Mass. Final rest will be in St. Clare Cemetery.
