Paula Jean Davis (Bates) passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at the age of 79. She died peacefully in her sleep at the home of her son Jeff Davis in Nashotah, WI.
Paula was born February 7, 1939, in Excelsior Springs, MO to the late Cecil E. and Dorothy J. Bates (Unger). She was married to Larry M. Davis in 1962, who preceded her in death in 2005. Paula and Larry had lived in Lee’s Summit, MO for the past 23 years. Prior to that, they had lived in many places including Excelsior Springs, MO, Midland, TX, Tulsa, OK, Atlanta, GA, along with Waukesha and Okauchee, WI. With all of their travels they always called
Missouri and Wisconsin home.
Paula was an excellent student at Excelsior Springs High School where she was involved in numerous clubs and activities. She went to Central Missouri State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing. After college she worked at the Jones Store in Kansas City, MO. While living in Lee’s Summit, Paula owned and operated her own floral arrangement business called Wildflowers. She also volunteered at the Gamber Community Center teaching seniors how to create and display floral arrangements. She was a lifelong member of Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church in Excelsior Springs, MO.
Paula leaves her two sons: Mark Jon Davis, wife Christine Davis (McCall), and their four sons Luke, Cole, Zack and Jess of Kearney, MO; and Jeffry Michael Davis and son Aden Davis of Nashotah, WI. Paula also leaves her brother, Jon Bates, wife, Jennie Bates (Sinclair) of Ixonia, WI, their son, Andrew Bates and wife Sally Bates (Clement) of Long Beach, CA., and uncle, Charles Unger and wife, Libby Unger (Jeffries) of Lee’s Summit, MO.
A memorial service honoring Paula’s life is being planned for a later date.
