Maxine M. Benrud of Hartland, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2016, with family by her side. Born on November 4, 1925 to Max and Mattie (Palmer) Hofmeister in Fennimore, Wisconsin. Married to Partner-In-Life, the late Carl A. Benrud in July 17, 1948, loving wife, mother, daughter, cousin, aunt, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother.
Maxine truly loved her family and friends. As an only child, she thoroughly enjoyed the extended family that came with Carl and greatly embraced the Norwegian heritage and traditions that are a mandatory part of being a Benrud. Maxine loved to travel and did so extensively with her family, as well as with friends. She was passionate about everything in nature from the Whip-poor-wills, morel mushrooms and the spring on her farm near La Crosse, Wisconsin, to the squirrels and maple trees in her yard at her home. She was an avid gardener and loved her flowers. She loved animals and had a huge soft spot for her Pomeranians which were always a very important part of the family. She was a big proponent of education and taught school for 24 years. Maxine had a strong faith, was active in her church, supported and was involved with many charities. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, educator and friend, who will be greatly missed by all.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children; Paul (Martha), Constance; three grandchildren, David (Joslyn), Megan, and Max; one great grandchild, Annaylse; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Our Saviors’ Lutheran Church W299 N5782 Hwy E, Hartland, Wisconsin. Visitation at church from 1:30 PM until the time of Services.
Private interment will be held at Our Saviors Skogdalen Lutheran Church, Westby WI.
