OBITUARY
Patricia J. Ames
 



Patricia Joan Ames, of Hartland WI, died December 12, 2016 peacefully at home. 

She was born in Wadena, Minnesota on December 12, 1941, first child of Helmer and Lila Burres. She was a 1959 graduate of the Greenway High School in Coleraine, Minnesota. On August 20, 1960, she married Robert Dean Ames at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, in Bovey, Minnesota. Bob and Pat Ames have belonged to Divine Redeemer Lutheran Church since they moved to Hartland in 1979. As a young married bride, Pat first resided in Virginia while Robert was serving in the United States Army. Upon returning home to Minnesota they located in Grand Rapids for two years. In 1963 they moved to Duluth, Minnesota where Pat worked as a billing clerk for a plumbing and heating company. While living in Duluth Bob and Pat's two sons Brian (1966) and Bradley (1970) were born. When her children were small, Pat worked as a homemaker. During this time, she also made wedding cakes from her home bakery and catering business. This home business led to her teaching a Chinese cooking class in adult education at Duluth, Minnesota. 

In 1979 the Ames’s moved to Hartland, Wisconsin allowing Bob to move up his company corporate stepping ladder. In 1982 Pat started working at Parkwood DCI which is a marketing company. Using her administrative skills, she served as an accountant with DCI for 13 years. In addition, she earned her Master Cake Decorating Certificate and was awarded COOK OF THE MONTH from Waukesha Freeman and the Hartland Chamber of Commerce. Pat joined the Hartland's Women's Club where she developed a Christmas Tree Fundraiser which lasted 13 years and raised thousands of dollars for local charities. She was recognized by the Hartland Chamber of Commerce for her life time achievements. Other hobbies that Pat appreciated were cooking, gardening, knitting, and baking. She spent 14 winters in Arizona until her health problems intervened and was no longer able to travel. During her adult life, you would usually find her with her beloved Boston Terriers. To this day, she has quite an extensive collection of the Boston Terrier memorabilia.

She is survived by her husband Robert, her sons Brian (Penny) of Champaign, Illinois, Bradley (Katie), of 
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and grandchildren Stephanie, Monica, Mason, Lila, and Owen. She is further survived by her two sisters, Bobbie (Neil) Rand of Delafield, Wisconsin and Barbra (Lou) Anderson of Brainerd, Minnesota, two nephews and 3 nieces and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Helmer and Lila Burres, and nephew Christopher Frazier.


Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Divine Redeemer Ev. Lutheran Church 31385 Hill Road, Hartland followed by a reception. Visitation at church from 10:00 AM until the time of Services. Private interment at Gardens of Stone Bank. In lieu of flowers memorials to HAWS.
